The Texas Scholastic Cricket Board provides high school students with structured volunteer opportunities that directly support and strengthen the youth cricket ecosystem across Texas. Volunteers work within real, officially organized high school competitions, contributing to match operations, officiating development, design team initiatives, scoring, event coordination, and regional organization. Every role is built around meaningful responsibility, ensuring that volunteer work has a clear and visible impact on how teams, tournaments, and regional systems function.
TSCB is the first organization in the United States to formally offer verified service hours specifically through scholastic cricket, establishing a new standard for how the sport can be integrated into educational and community service frameworks. Volunteer hours are earned through active participation and accountability rather than symbolic involvement, allowing students to contribute to something larger than a single team or school. Through this structure, volunteers help expand access, organization, and legitimacy for youth cricket across Texas while playing a role in building a statewide pathway that supports schools, students, and the future growth of the sport. BELOW ARE THE VARIOUS SECTORS THAT OFFER VOLUNTEER HOURS.
UMPIRING AND POLICY FORMATION ($$$)
The umpiring and policymaking pathway within the Texas Scholastic Cricket Board is designed for students who are deeply invested in the laws, structure, and governance of cricket. This pathway is intended for enthusiasts who enjoy rule interpretation, consistency, and the behind-the-scenes decision-making that keeps competitions fair and organized. Participants contribute not only on the field as umpires, but also off the field by helping shape how scholastic cricket is regulated statewide.
Students who are part of the Dallas Regionals and wish to serve as umpires are required to pass an entry qualification test that evaluates their knowledge of the Laws of Cricket, decision-making ability, and understanding of sportsmanship. Those who successfully qualify may umpire under the Dallas Cricket Board, with the possibility of receiving paid bonuses when officiating matches conducted by the Irving Cricket Federation. After passing the entry test, students receive an official certification and are granted access to a free umpiring course provided by the North Texas Cricket Association. Completion of this course qualifies student umpires to officiate matches across all Texas Scholastic Cricket Board competitions statewide.
Students selected for the policymaking track operate separately from on-field officiating. Policy makers work directly with TSCB board directors to review, draft, and refine competition rules, playing conditions, and governance standards. This panel functions as a rule-setting body for scholastic cricket in Texas, similar in structure to how the Marylebone Cricket Club governs the Laws of Cricket internationally, but adapted specifically for high school competition. Students from the Dallas Regionals who wish to participate in policymaking are also required to pass the same entry qualification test to ensure a consistent standard of rule knowledge and judgment.
At the highest level of progression, the Fall 2026 state tournament will feature professional umpires alongside the top-performing student umpire from across Texas. This student umpire will be selected based on performance and evaluations, flown to Houston to officiate at the Prairie View complex, and compensated for their role. This pathway establishes a clear, merit-based progression for students who excel in umpiring and cricket governance while maintaining professional standards across the Texas Scholastic Cricket Board.

The objective is to ensure that teams, tournaments, and achievements are communicated professionally and consistently, reflecting the scale and legitimacy of the organization.
Students involved in this pathway take part in active media operations, including match coverage, player interviews, content creation, and promotional storytelling across TSCB competitions. Media participants help translate on-field action into public narratives that highlight performances, milestones, and the growth of youth cricket statewide. This role goes beyond posting content and instead centers on representing the organization’s voice, credibility, and external image.
This pathway is led and guided through collaboration with Hit Fantasy, whose media leadership serves as the head media representatives for the Collegiate Cricket League, which oversees more than 50 university teams across the United States, and as media representatives for the National Cricket League, an annually inaugurated competition associated with players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Chris Gayle. These roles establish Hit Fantasy’s credibility within collegiate and professional cricket media and provide students with exposure to professional standards, workflows, and expectations used at higher levels of the sport.
Through this pathway, students play a direct role in shaping how the Texas Scholastic Cricket Board is viewed beyond the field of play. At the Dallas Regionals level, a designated logistics manager is responsible for handling match scheduling, coordinating updates, and managing the Dallas Regionals page on the CricClubs system. This role serves as the primary point of contact for any edits, corrections, or changes related to fixtures, team listings, match details, and official postings for the Dallas Regionals. Accuracy and responsiveness are critical, as this role directly affects teams, officials, and tournament flow.
